Members welcome at the Milltown Historical Society!
I will add this photo to my Michelin collection and will try to send it to Michelin themselves in South Carolina.
Peter
Ok Peter, thanks.
My grandfather, John J. Krauss, is in the second row from the bottom, third from the right (holding the trumpet). Who was the leader?
I think he was Joseph Fonteix.
Cool - thanks!

Rene Fonteix Sr
Marie-Helene,
Do you have any information about where and when this band performed? How about programs that list the musical selections?
Thanks!
Sorry, I have no information except that my great uncles (on each side of the drum) were not musicians and they joined the band after WWI , They learned to play the bugle during the war. I suppose the band played at fêtes and the Michelin picnics. You may find information in the digitized papers of New Brunswick Free Library.
Thanks!
Marie-Helene Just found this photo on the site today, and can confirm that Joseph Fonteix (my grandfather) was indeed the “bandmaster”. It was not Rene Fonteix, Sr (my father) who would have been 11 or 12 when this photo was taken. This is the only photo I have ever seen of my grandfather and I was wondering if it would possible to get a higher resolution copy of it? Merci.
