In light of what many are dealing with after Sandy's wrath we have decided to postpone the Holiday Train Show in Milltown. We are hoping to reschedule it for December 8th and 9th but the Senior Center in Milltown has not reopened yet so I have not been able to check if that weekend is available. Please update any blogs, sites, etc. that has the show listed for the upcoming weekend. I will let you know as soon as we have confirmed a new date.
My thoughts and prayers are with each of…

Milltown is a town that celebrates July fourth in a grand style, and the rest of the state knows it. Look for a front page story about our historic boro in tomorrow's Star Ledger newspaper, and online at nj.com. And if you live close enough to make it to town, here is the planned schedule of events from Milltown's Fourth of July emcee, Russ Einbinder.
Summary of Events— Wednesday July 4th, 2012

Welcome back! We are seeking out new members who can help us achieve our goals of preservation and education. The museum doors have been closed too much as of late, because we just do not have enough volunteers willing to spend a few hours showing other visitors the treasures that we have collected. If you…

The Milltown Public Library and the Milltown Historical Society recently collaborated for the second time on a photography contest featuring pictures taken in our boro. There are many beautiful images, and its always interesting to see how different artists can make some of the same scenes look so different just by how they shoot their photos.
The pictures have just been hung in the Jane Strimple meeting room of the Public Library, where they will be on display until the end of…

Our website's newest member, Pau Medrano Bigas, a professor of graphic design at a University in Barcelona, Spain is a scholar who has researched the Michelin company extensively. His research, while focused on how Michelin used graphic design in its printed advertisements, was also broad enough for him to learn about the history of the Michelin plant in Milltown. Read this fascinating history in Pau's article "The forgotten years. The American phase of Michelin in Milltown"published in the…

When I get a request from a new member for some specific picture, or information, I think how useful it would be if I could find a way to search for that information. Especially if it exists on our own website! To help us search better, add tags that describe what you add. For example "1950s" or "Raritan River Railroad".
Thanks, and if you find any new pictures, please add them to the site. We'd all love to see them.
